Architectural History
Founded in 1865 at the close of the Civil War, by farmers William and Mary Dodge, the Mountain View House served devoted guests through succeeding generations of the Dodge Family until 1979. It then passed through several owners before closing in 1986. Dormant for 16 years, the property was restored to it's former glory at a cost of of $20 million and opened its doors in 2002 as the new Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, the Mountain View Grand is located in Whitefield, New Hampshire and offers AAA Four Diamond luxury, New Hampshire White Mountain vistas, 144 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites, and various activities for adults and children.
