Property Description
Nestled at the foot of the rolling Catoctin Mountains in Central Maryland, this unique country house hotel is acclaimed for its cuisine, luxurious accommodations, and one of the best wine cellars for miles around. Located just fifteen minutes from Historic Gettysburg, Antrim 1844 Country House Hotel offers a spectacular setting for romantic getaways, fine dining, elegant weddings, family reunions or corporate meetings and events.
From the moment you see The Mansion, the towering white columns on the sweeping grand porches, through the impressive double front doors and vestibule and entrance hall to the breathtaking cantilever staircase that spirals gracefully up to the third floor. The beautiful identical Drawing Rooms boast 14 foot ceilings enhanced by plaster medallions and crown molding, oversized Monticello windows and interior shutters set off by white marble mantels carved by William Rinehart and heart pine floors. Beyond are the masterfully restored Formal English Tea Rose gardens stoically anchored by twin bronze fountains. A large glass-enclosed cupola is proudly perched atop this 17,000 square foot mansion, flooding it with sunlight.
Features and Accommodations
Nine guestrooms have been restored within the Mansion. Thirty-one additional rooms and suites (forty total) are located in the unique outbuildings. Each of these special guestrooms are furnished with a queen-size or king-size feather-top bed and many of our guestrooms feature either a gas or wood-burning fireplace. Located beside the Formal Gardens, the Ice House has the atmosphere of an English cottage. The Cottage offers a private stay in the original plantation office. The Barn has two rooms, each with its own private deck overlooking woods and a tranquil brook. The Carriage House contains two suites and four rooms. The Smith House hosts two more suites, each luxuriously outfitted for the perfect stay. The eighteen rooms in our newest buildings, have been lavishly decorated in Victorian style with all modern conveniences.
Enjoy afternoon tea and evening hors d’oeuvres in the Formal Drawing Rooms. Wake to a continental breakfast tray served outside your door. Then make your way to the Mansion where a full country-style breakfast is served before returning to the real world relaxed and refreshed. We offer full body massages in select rooms, chocolate covered strawberries and custom ordered chilled champagne for the ultimate romantic getaway.
