Repair

Seekircher Steel Window works on all manufacturers of steel casement windows found in residential, historical, and commercial buildings. By realigning the operable sash to open and close properly, we ensure the window is closing to maximum tightness, thereby reducing stress on all parts and increasing energy efficiency. In cases where the steel or hinges are deteriorated, we match the profile and weld new pieces in. Missing or broken hardware can often be matched from our collection of vintage locking handles, slide arm assemblies, push bars, finger lifts and crank operators.

Restoration

Seekircher Steel Window restores and refurbishes hundreds of windows a year both on-site and at our shop, in Peekskill, New York. We start by removing the hardware and stripping the sash and frames of all paint, putty glazing, and glass. In cases where the original single pane or leaded glass is of particular historic or aesthetic value, we can remove the glass or work around it. The window mechanics are assessed to ensure each window opens and closes properly, and any necessary steel work is done. After we prime the windows with an industrial strength primer, glass is installed and putty glazed by hand. Brass and bronze hardware is cleaned and polished, while steel hardware is typically painted or lacquered. To complete the restoration, each window is given two finish coats with a color of your choice.

Sales

In addition to repairing and restoring steel casement windows and doors, Seekircher Steel Window has a large collection of vintage casements and French doors at our warehouse in Peekskill, New York. Our vintage windows have been used in homes across the country, often to match existing windows in home renovations and additions. An increasing number of homeowners have been contacting us to replace failing “replacement” windows with vintage windows that match what was original to their home. In addition, our windows have been used in new construction when the unique design of vintage steel casement windows is called for.
