Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark that preserves the Miami estate of agricultural industrialist James Deering to engage our community and its visitors through the arts, history and the environment. Built between 1914 and 1922, Vizcaya is one of the most intact remaining examples from this era in United States history, when the nation’s most successful entrepreneurs built lavish estates inspired by the stately homes of Europe. Vizcaya features an architecturally significant Main House with 34 decorated rooms, ten acres of formal gardens and diverse collections including European antiquities, American art commissioned in the 1900s and century-old plants. The estate is unusual for retaining so much of its original character, configuration and collections. Caring for Vizcaya’s spectacular historic elements and sharing them with others are our ongoing challenge and priority.

From talks, tours and films to contemporary art commissions, our programs and events explore the interesting attributes of this distinctive Miami destination. Not to be missed are Vizcaya’s renowned and highly anticipated fundraising events, including the stylish Preservation Luncheon, Halloween Sundowner and Ball.

Vizcaya is a stunning venue for weddings, corporate affairs and social events. The staff of our facility rental program is eager to work with you to make your special event a memorable one.  We also offer photo permits for those who wish to be professionally photographed in the lush and decorative gardens of this historic estate.
